Egypt: Food Safety - International Nut & Dried Fruit Council

The Egyptian National Food Safety Authority notified the World Trade Organization of the Law No. 1/2017.The Law establishes that the Egyptian Food Safety Authority shall be responsible for setting mandatory food safety criteria; inspection, control, licensing, handling of food; control of imported and local food; setting conditions and rules regarding the granting of certificates of validity necessary for the export; setting the necessary measures and procedures for emergencies; setting the necessary procedures for risk assessment, analysis, management, communication; developing mandatory systems that ensure food safety; developing a system for food traceability; setting the necessary plans for identifying existing unlicensed food production units; raising community awareness; and cooperating and coordinating with national and international organizations.The Law entered into force on January 11, 2017.For further information, please contact us at inc@nutfruit.org.
