On 19 December 2016, the US federal Register published the Final Rule implementing the increase of the assessment rate established for the 2016-17 and subsequent marketing years from $0.0379 to $0.0465 per kernel weight pound of assessable walnuts.The marketing year began on September 1 and ends August 31. The assessment rate will remain in effect indefinitely unless modified, suspended or terminated.The rule is effective since December 20, 2016.Federal Register Vol. 81, No. 243.
