WCO: Classification of Blanched Peanuts

As INC informed, during the meeting of the Harmonized Standards Committee (HSC) of the World Custom Organization (WCO) held in October 2017, it was agreed by consensus to classify blanched peanuts in heading 12.02 (raw) instead of 20.08 (processed).

However, according to the European Federation of the Trade in Dried Fruit & Edible Nuts, Processed Fruit & Vegetables, Processed Fishery Products, Spices and Honey (FRUCOM), China presented an objection against this decision on December 15, 2017. The discussion continued during the 61st meeting held on March 6-16, 2018, but no decision was taken.

The discussion will continue at the next September 2018 meeting.
